La Nube [la noo-beh – Spanish for ‘the cloud’] puts forward a new model for a science center/children’s museum hybrid that is a catalyst for growth. The mantra “Dream Big” has driven this community-led initiative to become a 70,000 sq. ft. STEAM Discovery Center in the heart of El Paso, TX. Located in the thriving, multi-cultural Borderplex, La Nube is in a unique position to lead the museum field in access and inclusion by building bridges to different cultures, languages, abilities and ages.
The visitor experience puts the audience first. Developed in collaboration with the local community, the exhibits celebrate the region and feature topics that have relevance and connect to everyday lives. Four floors of exhibits, including the tallest inclusive indoor climber in Texas and state-of-the-art media interactives, combine opportunities for scientific inquiry with the play-based approach of a children’s museum. La Nube’s universal design, bilingual signage, and quiet spaces throughout ensure that everyone feels welcomed and empowered to be creative, innovative, and believe anything is possible.
