Fort Collins Museum of Discovery

Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is a merger between two existing institutions: a community history museum and an interactive science center. The two museums hired Gyroscope to conceptualize the merger beginning with the strategic planning phase and through all phases of design of the exhibits for their new 40,000 SF facility.

Our approach to the merger was to blend the content and to bring interactivity to the history exhibits and storytelling to the science center.  This new hybrid institution now features exhibits where visitors can play real instruments, make their own instruments, experiment with the physics of sound, and explore the musical history of Fort Collins.  This learning environment includes several Zones covering the natural and cultural history of the area and features a collections wall, live animals, and a new space for early childhood visitors and their caregivers.
