Columbia Memorial Space Center
Location: Downey, California
Size: 12,000 Square Feet of Exhibits
Scope: Exhibit Planning & Design, Graphic Design
Columbia Memorial Space Center was a new museum of space exploration located on a former NASA site in Downey, California. Gyroscope planned and designed all exhibits for the grand opening in 2009. Our exhibits draw on the remarkable history of this amazing site, where Apollo capsules and space shuttle cockpits were designed and built. The goal, though, is not historic interpretation, but rather to inspire the next generation of young space scientists and aerospace engineers. Through interactive engineering challenges, they discover that the great aerospace adventure continues, building on Downey’s heritage of achievement, and that they can still be part of that adventure.
