Meta Shaw Coleman
Children's Imagination Station
Location: Valdosta, GA
Size: 10,000 SF Exhibits
Scope: Full Service Exhibit Design
Expanding its reach into STEAM focused education, the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts has launched the Meta Shaw Coleman Children’s Imagination Station—a premier interactive hub for children and families. Rooted in the context of South Georgia, the exhibits spark creativity and introduce children to a variety of career possibilities, such as those in flight, music, medicine, and local agriculture.
The design prioritizes inclusivity, incorporating collaborative discovery, quiet spaces, specialized programming tailored to different needs, and a designated area specifically for early childhood development. The experience is heightened by the Sky Walk, a 200-foot ADA-compliant ramp that wraps around the exhibits to offer a dynamic, multi-tiered learning adventure for visitors of all abilities. The soaring wooden structure also honors long regional history of the timber industry while offering a glimpse into future possibilities in mass timber architecture.
