Bishop Museum is the premier natural and cultural history institution in the Pacific, recognized throughout the world for its cultural collections, research projects and public educational programs. Gyroscope was hired to plan and design all exhibits for the Science Adventure Center, a new addition to the Museum’s campus.

 

The centerpiece is an immersive, three-story erupting volcano. At the lower level of the volcano, visitors take a journey deep into the Earth and watch a demonstrator melt real lava. On the main level, the 19,000-gallon Deep Ocean Tank features wave machines and ripple tanks.  Visitor operated ROV’s explore the ocean floor below to discover where volcanoes are formed. Other interactive experiences are an erupting wax model island formation exhibit, native species identification using the Museum’s collections, and our award winning Conservation Hot Spots lab.
