Don Pohlman  

Don Pohlman is Director of Strategic Planning at Gyroscope. Prior to joining the firm, he was employed by the Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM) for more than 25 years as an exhibit developer, writer, designer, and project manager with an emphasis on projects combining topics and perspectives from the sciences and the humanities.

During his tenure at SMM, Don worked on twenty-four major exhibitions, including four national traveling exhibitions. He also served as the Staff Liaison to the architectural team during the design and construction of SMM’s new building, a 375,000 square-foot facility that opened on St. Paul’s riverfront in December 1999.

Don has authored numerous successful funding proposals, including several to the National Science Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities. His publications include two essays in Creating Connections: Museums and the Public Understanding of Research (2004) from Altamira Press and a commentary for the Informal Learning Review (May/June 2006) entitled “Communities of Learners.”

At Gyroscope, Don is managing planning for The Leonardo at Library Square in Salt Lake City. His previous projects included a new strategic concept for the Buffalo Museum of Science, the Standards of Excellence report, and planning for SciencePort in Belmont Bay, Virginia. As part of that project he contributed to Gyroscope’s report Museums in Transition: Emerging Technologies as Tools for Free-Choice Learning.



Amy Loewen  

Amy Loewen is a project manager with over 12 years of museum experience. She is currently managing The Leonardo at Library Square project in Salt Lake City.

Prior to joining Gyroscope, Amy worked for four years at the Exploratorium managing an NSF funded project called, "Listen: Making Sense of Sound".  Amy has also worked at the California Academy of Sciences, the Bishop Museum, The Museum of Anthropology and the Royal Ontario Museum as an exhibit designer/developer, preparator and educator.

Her Bachelor’s Degree is from the University of Toronto in Anthropology and Psychology and she studied Interior Design for three years at Ryerson University in Toronto. She also holds the prestigious A.R.C.T. certification in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and taught English for two years in Japan.

 

 

Scott Moulton  

Scott Moulton, Gyroscope Exhibit Designer, approaches design with a sensibility shaped by his architectural background and hands on experience designing and building furniture. Scott co-founded Union Studio in 1995, shortly after graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Architecture. His work there included architectural design, site-specific furniture, and a limited production furniture line. He was honored when a piece of his furniture was acquired by the SFMOMA to be part of their permanent collection and his work has been featured in magazines including Interior Design, Abitare, Metropolitan Home, Dwell and the SF Examiner Magazine.  Scott has also been a Senior Lecturer in the furniture department at the California College of Art.

Scott is responsible for exhibit design from conceptual development through construction documents for the Leonardo in Salt Lake City and the Imaginarium of South Texas.
