A Landmark Approval
Dramatic views of the Chicago skyline will greet visitors to the Chicago
Children's Museum(CCM) when the museum's expansion and renovation
is complete in 2007.
Gyroscope Architecture's design for the Skyline Terrace, a glass enclosed
exhibition and event space located on the museum's current roof, was
recently approved by the Chicago Commission on Landmarks. The
new space is set within the historic Navy Pier Head House and has
sweeping views of downtown Chicago. The design was inspired
by the original structural fabric of the historic Pier marquee.
The project team includes Gyroscope Architecture, A. Epstein &
Sons, the Chicago Children's Museum, Jones Lang LaSalle, and the Metropolitan
Pier & Exposition Authority.
