Buffalo Museum of Science Buffalo. New York Gyroscope's Visitor Experience Master Plan for this 100 year old museum envisions major changes both on site and off. On-site, the approach calls for workshops where visitors can participate actively in the life of the museum. The goal is to inspire, grow, and support a community of lifelong learners that reaches from the museum’s youngest visitors through the region’s amateur naturalists to professional scientists and engineers. Offsite, the plan calls for a network of small neighborhood facilities—the Science Spots—that take the program to the people, improving access and allowing for easier repeat visitation. Another key aspect of the Plan is an integrated service and business model that embeds value-added options for more personal involvement in the exhibit halls, allowing the museum to provide highly facilitated programs that would be otherwise financially unsustainable.
