Maeryta Medrano, AIA Architect and LEED® AP, founded Gyroscope,
Inc. in 1989. As Principal Designer and President, she has
been responsible for museum planning and design for projects
as diverse as new creative learning centers to contemporary art
installations.
Maeryta received her Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. Her graduate work in architecture from UC Berkeley was awarded the prestigious John K. Branner Traveling Fellowship Award which provided for a year of travel abroad to study the relationship of new museum architecture and exhibition design.
Maeryta’s awards and publications
Maeryta is principal in charge of design integrating site, building and exhibition program. Clients during Gyroscope’s formative
years were the Boston Museum of Science, the Smithsonian Institution
Traveling Exhibition Service, and the Exploratorium. Before founding
Gyroscope, Maeryta was Exhibit Designer and Traveling Exhibitions
Coordinator at Boston’s Museum of Science.
